Lingo IQ turns the things you say out loud into knowledge you can find again. Capture quickly in Brain Dump; develop ideas inside Projects.
Requirements
- iPhone running iOS 26 or later
- Apple Intelligence for summaries and insights. Transcription and recording work without it; features that need a model say so on screen rather than failing quietly.
- Space for your recordings — audio is stored on the device.
Getting started
- Record. Tap the microphone on the Library screen. Recording starts immediately; there is nothing to name or file first.
- Let it process. Transcription and summarisation run on their own and resume safely if interrupted.
- Organise later, if at all. Move a recording into a Project when it turns out to matter. Nothing is lost by leaving it in Brain Dump.
Hands-Free Mode
Say what you need without touching the screen — useful while walking, driving, or working with your hands full.
Open it with the Action Button, Siri, a Shortcut, Back Tap, or a Lock Screen control. Then say things like:
- “Start recording”·“Lingo IQ, stop recording”
- “Find the harbour meeting”·“Open the second one”
- “Summarize it”·“What did we decide about pricing?”
- “List my projects”·“Go to project homework”
- “Open Brain Dump”·“Play the audiobook of the report”
Say “help” at any time and the app lists what it understands.
Common questions
- Where is my data?
- On your phone, and there is no account. Ordinary recording and analysis upload nothing. The only exceptions are the Remote API options in Settings, which are off unless you turn them on and supply your own provider key. See the Privacy Policy.
- Why did the insight say it was “scored without the model”?
- The on-device model was unavailable, or Apple’s safety check declined that recording. The score is then counted from language patterns — real arithmetic, but coarser — and the app labels it rather than presenting it as a full analysis. Difficult conversations trip that check routinely; nothing is wrong with your recording.
- Some insights show a hammer icon.
- Those are described but not built yet. They are listed so you can see where the app is going. There is nothing to buy, and nothing to unlock — two insights run today: Blind Spot Review and Language Energy.
- The transcript has the wrong words.
- Tap any segment to correct it. Corrections travel everywhere those words appear rather than leaving a stale copy behind.
- Speaker labels are wrong, or one person was split in two.
- Reassign a turn in the conversation view, or merge two voices into one person. Speaker separation is best-effort and is meant to be corrected by you.
- My recording stopped when a call came in.
- Interrupted recordings are preserved and can be resumed or recovered — you will see them on the Library screen with the option to continue processing.
- Can I get my content out?
- Yes. Export a Project as a package, or share an individual transcript, summary, or audio file. Your content is yours and leaves in an open form.
- How do I delete everything?
- Settings → Erase All Content removes every project, recording, and document on the device. Settings themselves are kept. Deleting the app also removes everything.
Languages
The interface is available in English, Spanish, French, and Simplified Chinese. Transcription supports the languages Apple’s on-device speech recognition offers on your device; you can set a language per recording.
Reporting a problem
Please include:
- What you expected, and what happened instead
- The version and build from Settings → About
- Whether the recording was a single voice or a conversation
Do not send us recordings or transcripts unless you intend to share that content — we do not need them to help, and we would rather not have them.
The app sends us nothing on its own. There is no telemetry, no crash reporting and no analytics, so the only thing we ever see is what you choose to send. If an analysis did not finish, turn on Settings → Processing Details → Analysis diagnostics: it adds a technical explanation to that analysis, and the explanation travels with the text when you share it. That is our whole diagnostic channel.
